Lambersart, in France’s Nord-Pas-De-Calais, 15km from Roubaix. 130km of riding in glorious dusty open fields and 26 degree sunshine. No pavé just melting tarmac.

And at the end of it all, we all were just as heroic as Museeuw, Moser and De Vlaeminck. Beers were passed around, Maillots were exchanged, gear ratios and tooth counts were earnestly discussed in broken French / English. It just doesn’t get much better than this.
The Belles d’Europe series of randonees continues in June / July this year.

Congrats to Stu O’Grady for his win yesterday. I met him at Good Friday 2003; a great rider and a 100% gen-o-wine top geezer. It’s nice when the good guys win for a change. And was good to see Flecha show some track savvy - even after 250km of racing - as he moved Wesemann up the banking to keep his place in the sprint for 2nd.
