Ballroom Glitz

Raphapaluza was a corker. The venue oozed faded glamour and was perfect for roller racing. Full results and pix to follow, but its safe to say that the Cycling Weekly boys gave the other male teams a learnin’, while the courier girls team of Therese, Scarlett, Nhatt and Tanya repaid the favour and took the female team prize beating the Fireflies into second.
Meanwhile in the Open competition, there were some top times posted in the initial seading round on the slightly wobbly bike / rig, and when the action moved to the main stage for the quarter finals onwards it made for some of the tightest, fastest racing of the night (What me? biased? no way – it’s the stone truth
)
Throw in some cool tunes (highlight = Lee Perry/Max Romeo’s ‘Chase Tha Devil’ – now that schitz hot…), an insane amount of cheering and drunken herbertry form those watching all thrown together with Buffalo Bill’s quality MC’ing and you get the picture.
Ballroom blitz pix below….

Results (at least until Bill finds his clipboard) and write ups:
And for those whose interest has been piqued by all this wheels of steel stuff, a primer on how to get started (erm, you need to try and look beyond the horrendous lycra etc on this one; the guys got mad skills, honest).
Big thanks to Rockster for taking the pix, and to T and all the Rollapaluza crew who made it happen.
