I have a number of images from my Domestic Fables series in the upcoming Non|Fiction show at the Viewfinder gallery in London SW9. The show features some great work in what is one of London’s freshest, most intimate photography galleries. I’m pleased to be showing alongside some thought-provoking and exciting new work by Jonathan Illingworth, Rhiannon Adam, Gavin Mecaniques and Fiona Harvey.

The show open this Thursday 3rd March at 12noon and the Private View is later that evening 6-8pm. Hope to see some of you there!

You can see more images from the series on my portfolio site at mark-denton.com.

shoreditch show – ‘Parallels’

mickster | photographers | Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

“I found a rooming house near my job. Moving wasn’t hard. I only owned enough to fill half a suitcase…” – from Factotum by Charles Bukowski

I’m pleased announce that I have some work showing at the Red Lion in Shoreditch from next week. The exhibition itself is also part of Photomonth, which launches at the end of this week – details can be found on http://2010.photomonth.org/

The show features work from the ‘Parallels’ project, a kind of photographic ‘chinese whispers’ in which a series of images were made in response to each other with the starting point a line from a Charles Bukowski novel. My contribution to the project was shot whilst I was in Budapest, and the collaborative nature of the project was great fun whilst I was away from London.
More info is here: http://www.londonphotography.org.uk/satellites/2010/10/04/shoreditch-parallels-project-and-group-exhibition/

The show also doubles as the second annual show for the Shoreditch branch of London Independent Photography, and I also have two 24″x20″ prints from my recent series ‘Where I end and you begin’ for sale in the show.

Private view is on Thursday Oct 7 from 7pm at the Red Lion Free House (1st floor), 41 Hoxton St, N1 6NH and all are welcome!

And just a quick reminder that the TVU MA show ‘Close to you’ is still on at the PM gallery, Ealing, until October 2nd.

Andrea, 2009.

I’ve spent most of December in Manchester doing some more shooting for my ‘Domestic Fables’ project. The project is part of my MA, and i’m starting to feel the strange pressure of having to produce work to a deadline. This is something that every pj and commercial photographer will be used to, but its a new experience to have to create art in this way…Its gonna interesting to see whether this helps or hinders the creative process in the end.
